Things to bring up: can we bring in some visiting professor, to do at least Linguistics 101,
Reference schools that have Linguistics Programs
We need to talk to the administration about what they thing about the Linguistics Program
Targeting: Committee on Academic Programs (CAP), Office of the President, Dean’s Office (Merrill), Dean McKeon, Professor Kubler, CFLLC
Sentiments: Linguistics useful for study of all languages, Cognitive Sciences, Computer Sciences, Philosophy – emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature. Emphasize also the stand alone field nature of Linguistics.
Admission of financial issues, acknowledgement, but asking why we can’t work around it
Target people who were thinking of taking Linguistics.
Also seek support of other people who are not interested in linguistics, but support liberal arts education.
Bring in the Williams prestige issue
Lead off with the issue of Sanders, but then broaden our focus.

- Appropriate Listservs (MinCo, MCC), Classes, Our Listserv, Linguistics Listserv,
Start with Sanders, but make it clear that this is a preface to the whole thing
- Maximum of One Page, one sided
Be sure to include: Numbers, Data, à support for the claim
